Providing Engineering Solutions For Your Projects

Experts in advanced composite bearing materials and supplier of the QuicKutter™ shaft protection system

About H4 imageAbout H4 imageAbout H4 image
H4 has been involved in bringing new technologies to market over a number of years.
We search out and evaluate new developments and products, mostly in the field of engineering.

Today we supply directly and through agents, advanced plain composite bearing materials from Maritex and Graphalloy and a unique shaft protection system that is used by a number of Navies.

H4 is also involved with other new technologies in couplings.
Thompson couplings have developed a unique CV joint that has none of the limitations associated with Rzeppa joint as commonly used in automotive drives.

Maritex bearings are advanced composite bearings using a selection of fibres and resins, lubricants and surface chemistry to produce a unique material that has low friction and low wear in its designed environment.

Maritex is Lloyds approved for shafts and rudders but is also used in a wide range of other applications where high pressures are expected and other materials have failed.

With Aquarius, the combination of strength (almost equal in all planes) active lubricants and a base resin that does not soften with heat, result in a material that does not creep even when pushed beyond it's designed temperature or pressure. The resin hardens and polishes with heat.

We have also solved customers problems by developing bespoke materials for their unique applications.

Maritex is also available as a WRAS approved material for drinking water systems through Exalto UK Limted.

QuicKutter™ imageQuicKutter™ image
The QuicKutter is a simple robust and effective solution to the problem of debris around your shaft drives.

It protects the drive train from the damage that can be caused when a rope or line is caught by a blade and it winds up behind the bearing carrier (P bracket, strut or stern tube)

The fixed blade shaves through the debris as it starts to push forwards. The cutter is rarely damaged even when it encounters steel traces and SS fish hooks.

Many commercial fishing vessels have found the QuicKutter an essential part of the vessels safety, the US Navy and The RNLI have also chosen this system.
